1. Infrared Filter Pigment Technology
   The core of each lens contains infrared-absorbing pigments embedded within the hydrogel matrix. These specialized compounds selectively block visible light wavelengths (400-700nm) while allowing infrared radiation (700-1100nm) to pass through. When you view luminous ink marked cards, the invisible ink absorbs visible light and re-emits energy in the infrared spectrum — which your naked eye cannot perceive. The filtered lenses convert this infrared emission into a visible contrast pattern, revealing suit and value markings on the card back.
2. Luminous Ink Compatibility
   Infrared contact lenses are designed exclusively for reading infrared (luminous) ink markings — they cannot detect barcode-marked cards (those require a poker scanner camera). Luminous ink contains infrared-fluorescent compounds that remain invisible under normal lighting but emit a faint infrared glow when exposed to ultraviolet or near-infrared light sources. The contact lens filter captures this glow and renders it as visible markings.
3. Light Source Requirements
   For optimal marking visibility, the playing environment must contain infrared-emitting light sources. Most incandescent bulbs, halogen lamps, and natural sunlight emit sufficient infrared radiation. LED lighting (common in modern casinos) produces minimal infrared output, which may reduce marking brightness. For best results in LED-lit venues, sit closer to windows or supplemental lighting. Some advanced marked cards use UV-reactive ink that responds better to blacklight or UV sources commonly found in casino ceilings.
4. Reading Technique and Angle
   Unlike glasses that require specific viewing angles, contact lenses move with your eye, providing 360-degree visibility. Simply glance at any marked card back, and the luminous pattern will appear within 0.5-1 seconds. The markings typically display as colored symbols (red, blue, or green depending on ink type), number codes, or pattern variations that correspond to specific card values. With 15-30 minutes of practice, you will recognize all 52 cards instantly. Advanced users can read entire hands or community cards in a single glance.
5. Eye Color and Visibility Differences
   Lens effectiveness varies slightly with natural eye color:
   – Dark eyes (brown/black): Higher contrast against luminous markings; excellent visibility in all lighting
   – Light eyes (blue/green/hazel): Slightly reduced contrast in very bright environments; choose larger diameter lenses (9-11mm) for enhanced filtering
   – Custom-tinted lenses: Available with slightly tinted visible-light filters to improve marking contrast for players with very light irises
6. Care and Storage for Longevity
   Proper maintenance extends lens lifespan to 12-24 months:
   – Store in sterile saline solution (never tap water) when not in use
   – Clean with multipurpose contact lens solution after each session
   – Avoid rubbing the infrared-filtering area; rinse gently instead
   – Replace storage case every 3 months to prevent bacterial contamination
   – Do not sleep while wearing; remove and store after each gaming session

   Damaged or scratched lenses will show reduced marking visibility — replace immediately if you notice clouding, tearing, or comfort issues.

7. Safety and Eye Health Considerations
